I would say the best way to learn to debug or analyze viruses is to start with a small known virus, such as a simple boot virus, to which the source code is available. Particularly with boot viruses, it is helpful to know the entire boot process, from the moment the machine is powered on to the point when the BIOS boots the operating system. Also, reading some of the virus zines will provide a wealth of information and knowledge accumulated through years of experience in the virus community. Also, I am welcome to suggestions for new articles on the site. :) |
